Bernice L. Green, 95, of Hermitage passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2024, in UPMC Shenango Valley, Farrell.
Mrs. Green was born April 29, 1928, in Leesburg, PA, the only daughter of the late John B. and Elva (Francis) Mathieson. A 1945 graduate of Sharon High School, she worked as an operator at Bell Telephone, Sharon, before the birth of her children.
A homemaker, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and took pride in her meticulously kept home. Bernice also worked as an Avon representative for over 50 years.
She enjoyed playing cards and loved supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by attending their sporting events, and even when she was unable to make it in person, still followed their games online. Bernice was also an avid fan of Cleveland sports, particularly the Browns and Guardians.
Bernice was a longtime member of the Gentle Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, Hermitage.
Her husband of 37 years, Edgar "Bud" Green, whom she married April 23, 1948, preceded her in death February 6, 1985.
Bernice is survived by two daughters, Kathy Bonnette (Mike), New Albany, OH, and Nancy Elford (Marty), Hermitage; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Bonnette, Jamie Bonnette (Cristina), Brad Riley (Susan), David Riley (Beth), Jeff Riley, Billi Fustos (Keith), Casey White (Brian), Tanya Carpec (Alan), Krystal Gioan (Tony), and Della Elford; and 23 great-grandchildren, Keith, Jaclyn, Kaelyn, Christian, Carter, Artie, Alan, Beverley, Wylie, Anthony, Brenden, Haley, Michael, Tristen, Kyla, McKenna, Logan, Kole, Abby, Layne, Ella, Leah, and Reagan; two great-great-grandchildren, Maverick and Alexandria. Also surviving are several nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford, Harold, and David Mathieson; a niece, Sandy Yost; and a nephew, Harold Mathieson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Fwy., Hermitage, PA 16148.

A funeral service will be held immediately following at noon, in the church, with Pastor Brian Burke, officiating.
