Obituary

Benjamin K. Ross, SMSgt (Ret.) of Enon, OH, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 9, 2017. He was 46. Mr.


Ross was born June 18, 1971, in Farrell, PA and was a 1989 graduate of Joseph Badger High School, Kinsman, OH.

Benjamin Ross earned an associate's degree in Air and Space Operations Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, and later earned a bachelor's degree in Professional Aeronautics, Magna Cum Laude, from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University at Dayton, OH.

Senior Master Sergeant Ross, served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years. During his time in the service SMSgt Ross selflessly deployed in support of multiple operations to include: Desert Storm, Northern and Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Enduring Freedom and Freedom Sentinel. He served in the Ohio Air National Guard stationed at Springfield Air National Guard Base as an active member of the 162d Reconnaissance (Fighter) Squadron, 178th Operations Group, 178th Wing.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Yellow Springs, OH.

Since February 2015, Ben has served as the Administrator for the Village of Enon, OH. He was active in his community with organizations such as Clark County 4-H, KCCB, and Clark County-Springfield TCC.

He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing with his children or taking runs with his wife. A very active father, Ben loved traveling with his family and taking them camping or hiking.

He is survived by his wife, Trina (Weaver) Ross, whom he married December 4, 2010; three sons, Nathaniel B. Ross, McDonald, OH; and Jack H. and Henry W. Ross, both Enon, OH; his parents, Robert R. and Donna (Emrick) Ross, Sr., Burghill, OH; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Tamara Weaver, Springfield, OH; maternal grandmother, Helen Emrick, Kinsman, OH; two brothers, Robert R. Ross, Jr., Burghill, OH; and James Schiava, West Middlesex, PA; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Ben was preceded in death by:  paternal grandparents Ralph and Mary (Parsee) Ross and maternal grandfather Frederick Emrick.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday ( 12-15-17 ) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon .

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Military honors will be rendered at Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
