Benjamin Edward McGarrity, 30, of Brookfield, OH, passed away unexpectedly at home, of natural causes due to complications of alcohol abuse, on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Ben was born on January 12, 1994, in Sharon, a son of Edward and Joanne (Donnelly) McGarrity. He was a 2012 graduate of Brookfield High School and attended Trumbull Career and Technical Center (TCTC). Ben also completed the HVAC technician classes at ETI Technical College of Niles.

Ben was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his mother, Joanne McGarrity; his sister, Melanie (Nathanael) Holstead and their children, Sophia and Shepard, Indian Land, SC; his paternal grandfather, James (JoAnn) McGarrity, all of Hermitage; aunts and uncles, Francis Donnelly, Paula (Fran) Milkowski, Diane (Ray) Eakin, and Mathew (Lorrie) McGarrity; many cousins; and his beloved dog, Prince.

Ben was preceded in death by his father, Edward McGarrity; paternal grandmother, Delores McGarrity; maternal grandparents, Charles "Harpo" and Regina Donnelly; and a nephew, Luke Holstead.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Calling hours will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday (06/21/2024) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Glenn Whitman, officiating.
