Benedict Frank Lealy, of Hermitage, age 81, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016. Born on Aug. 20, 1935, in Sharon, he was the son of Benedetto and Elizabeth Lealy.
Ben attended the former St. Joseph Parochial Grade School and was a graduate of Sharon High School. He served in the Army oversees which allowed him the chance to visit several countries. Ben was employed at Lang Concrete Products. After 34 years of working there, he then worked at Perry Brothers Coal Company. Until his retirement, Ben worked at Frank Schwartz Excavating.
Ben's interests included woodworking, bowling, and cheering on the Steelers. He and his son shared a beloved interest in NASCAR racing and for several years traveled to Daytona for the start of the NASCAR season.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, a son Todd and his wife Patty of Umatilla Florida, a daughter Lisa and her husband Mark Kratz of Satellite Beach Florida, two step-grandchildren, Dallas and Callie, and three nieces, Debbie Hartsky, Dana Lang, and Suzanne Lang.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his in-laws Walter and Helena Zieminick, three sisters Thereasa Harrison, Elizabeth Sipe, Rose Maria Hartsky, and a brother Joe Lang.
Kathy would like to thank all the relatives and friends for the support they have shown her throughout Ben's illness. A special thanks to Andy Balko, Denise Gem, Deb Hartsky, and Todd Uber for their constant comfort and aid.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in the name of Ben to either St. Bartholomew Church, 311 West Ridge Avenue, Sharpsville, PA 16150 or Animal Appeal, PO 197, Sharpsville, PA 16150.
Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 5 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Matthew Strickenberger, pastor of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, officiating.
