Ben 'Chimmy' Chmielewski, 2018 Landay Lane, Farrell, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Saturday (3-6-10) in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell. He was 79.
Ben was born December 4, 1930 in Farrell a son of the late Boleslaw 'Ben' and Helen Roseski Chmielewski.
He was a lifelong area resident and a 1948 graduate of Farrell High School.
Ben retired from Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant where he was employed for 38 years.
He was an active member of St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, where he was an usher, pierogi worker, cemetery worker and a member of the Men's Club. 'Chimmy', as he was known by many, enjoyed playing a round of golf and bowling with his friends. He was a member of many social and civic clubs and served with the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He will be remembered as a caring, giving and gentle brother, uncle and friend. One of Chimmy's many acts of kindness was taking a rose to his mother's grave every Saturday for the past 24 years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are: a sister, Helene Kuhn and her husband Charlie, Hermitage; three nieces, Charlene Galovich and her husband Fred, Harmony, PA; Maria Marks and her husband Carl, Hermitage; and June Thomas and her husband Jerome, Farrell; a nephew, Jeff Kuhn and his wife Patti, Franklin, PA; and several great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ben was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Chmielewski.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (3-10-10) in St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Daniel J. Kresinski, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment
