Barbara Young, Dougherty Ave. Sharon, passed away at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in the Hospice Care of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was born September 11, 1941 in Meadville, PA. She was 73. She was a devoted wife, loving Mom and generous friend to many. As a true believer in community involvement, she was an active member of many organizations over the years including Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Shenango Valley Junior Women's Club and the Shenango Valley Performing Arts Council. She also served as a founding member and past president of the Buhl Day Committee. For many years she cherished her role as a Girl Scout leader to her four daughters and many young girls. She served as a member of the Kennedy Christian High School Booster's Club for which she was awarded the Golden Eagle Award. She was a 1959 graduate of Sharon High School and worked for John N. Gruitza Associates, Inc., Sharon, as an administrative assistant for over 35 years. She enjoyed golfing, bocce, and playing cards and was an avid Penn State fan. Her husband, John J. Young, whom she married October 26, 1963, survives at home. Also surviving are four daughters, Pamela H. Mowrer and her husband Jeffrey, Greensburg, PA; Dawn M. Kiefer and her husband Jay, Orlando, FL; Margo S. Young and her spouse Suzanne Hughes, Baltimore, MD; and Mindi E. Young and her husband Tony Padgett, Lewisberry, PA; three grandchildren, Emma M. Kiefer, Jacob J. Kiefer and Kaiden Padgett; two sisters, Becky Rado, Summerville, SC and Debbie Laniewski and her husband Robert, Johnstown, CO; and two brothers, Michael See, Port Angeles, WA and Tim See, New Castle, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred C. and Helen Regina McGuigan See. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Buhl Park Corp., 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, PA 16148. Services: An intimate memorial mass will be held for the family and close friends Monday, July 13th at St. Rose Cemetery Chapel. Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
