A funeral service will be Monday for Barbara E. Smith, Hermitage, who passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Thursday (6-18-15) following an extended illness. She was 78. Mrs. Smith was born June 13, 1937, a daughter of James and Hazel Johnston Fenstermaker. A homemaker, she also worked in the area as a private caregiver for many years. She was an active member of Sharon Baptist Church, Hermitage. Barb loved spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included camping, motorcycle riding, and card club. Her husband, Dale Smith, whom she married May 24, 1952, survives at home. She also leaves two daughters, Deborah J. Paulitz and her husband Dan, Hermitage; and Denise R. Hawley and her husband Jim, Brookfield; six grandchildren, Barbara Miller and her husband John, David Klingensmith and his wife Melissa, and Becky Stainbrook, all Hermitage; Kaila O'Malley and her husband Patrick, Pittsburgh; and Jimmy and Lauren Hawley, Brookfield; and eight great-grandchildren, Makenna, Alexxa and Andrew Miller; Anthony, Luke, and Noah Klingensmith; and Hailee and Jacob Stainbrook. Barbara leaves her sister, Gaynel Bright and her husband Don, Sharon; and three half brothers and three half sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ken and Jimmy Fenstermaker; and her stepfather, Andrew Johnston. Calling hours: 11 a.m. to time of service Monday (6-22-15) in J.
