Barbara A. "Baribie" Porterfield of Sharon passed away peacefully Sunday morning, December 10, 2017, in her residence following a brief illness. She was 47.

Barbie was born August 20, 1970, in Sharon, a daughter of William E. and Pearl (Shaffer) Porterfield.

She worked at the Arc of Mercer Co. Workshop, and previously at Diversified Family Services, both Hermitage.

Barbie enjoyed completing puzzles on her Lite Brite and building things with Lego's. Known by her family for her hardy appetite, she enjoyed spending time with them during holiday season meals. Barbie loved to sing and dance, and play with her dog, Charlee, whom she adored.

Surviving are: two sisters, Teresa Dickson and Brenda Porterfield, both Sharon; three brothers, Albert Kane, West Middlesex; Ken (Kathy) Kane, Transfer; and Bill Kane, Clarksville, TN. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Barbie was preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, and Sharon Regional Hospital for the exceptional care they provided to Barb.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday ( 12-16-17 ) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon .

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday , in the funeral home, with Rev. Roy Shaffer, officiating.
