Obituary

Barbara Jean McQuiston, 79, of 816 Carson St., passed away the morning of July 2, 2011 at Jameson Hospital.

She was born January 6, 1932 in New Castle, the daughter of the late Frank and Esther Pauline Nicklas Gribben.

She was a 1950 graduate of New Castle Senior High School and prior to her marriage worked at G.C. Murphy Store and the Johnson Bronze Co.

She married Charles W. (Bill) McQuiston Sr. on April 11, 1953, he survives at home.

Barb was a loving and caring homemaker to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a life long member of St. Mary's Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Ladies Guild and bereavement meal committee. She was also a volunteer at the Lawrence County Tourist Promotion Center.

Besides her husband she is survived by four daughters, Renee DiGia and her husband Dennis of New Castle, Jai Badger and her husband Jeffery of Grove City, Barbara Flora and her husband Richard of New Castle and Judith LaMarco of Hummelstown, PA.; A son Charles W. (Bill) McQuiston Jr. and his wife Victoria of New Castle. One sister Alice Gribben of New Castle; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Tomlinson and Colette Peterson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:30 am for St. Mary's church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am by the Rev. Victor J. Molka Jr., Pastor.

The family suggest memorials may be given in her name to Jameson Hospice, 100 S. Mercer St. New Castle, PA 16101.
