April 11, 1946 – June 18, 2019
Barbara Jean Juratovic, 73, of Brookfield, OH, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 18, 2019, following a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Mrs. Juratovic was born April 11, 1946, in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of Steve and Barbara (Liposcak) Strojny. She was a member of the 1964 graduating class from Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, OH.
Barbara worked for a short time at the former Strouss' Department Store, Youngstown, OH. She was primarily a homemaker and dedicated her life to caring for her family and their home.
Barbara was a member of St. Anthony Church, Sharon.
She also served as treasurer for both the Croatian Democratic Union, Sharon, and the Strossmayer Singing Society, Vienna, OH.
Barbara loved spending time with her family, and played an instrumental role in raising her three nieces and caring for her mother-in-law, Mara. She was much more than an aunt to her nieces and grandnieces, she was a second mother, she was a tremendous positive influence on all of their lives and will always be held dear and close in their hearts and memories. Barbara was also beyond a sister-in-law to Zvonko and Katica, she took them under her wing when they both arrived from Croatia and continued to care for them and their families throughout her life. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Her beloved husband of 50 years, Mirko Juratovic, whom she married October 22, 1968, survives at home.
Also surviving is her brothers-in-law, Zvonko (Katica) Juratovic, Brookfield, OH; Slavic (Franja) Juratovic, Zdencina, Croatia; three nieces, Marica (Matthew) Nagel, Waterville, OH; Kristina Juratovic, Brookfield, OH; Marina (Justin) Saunders, Streetsboro, OH; three grandnieces Nadia, Ariana and Goddaughter Bianca Nagel, Waterville, OH; her mother-in-law, Mara Juratovic, whom lived with her for over 20 years, Brookfield, OH; her extended Juratovic and Bencetic family in Croatia and Germany and several cousins who reside in Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI; Hamilton, Canada; Croatia; and Youngstown, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; sisters-in-law Jana (Stjepan) Bencetic, Zdencina, Croatia; and Bara (Ferko) Juratovic, Zdencina, Croatia.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (6-21-19) and 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday (6-22-19) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Anthony Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Hermitage.
