IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara A.
Fuoco
May 16, 1940 – February 22, 2025
Barbara A. (Laycock) Fuoco, 84, of Hermitage, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in UMPC Horizon Hospital, Farrell.
Barb was born on May 16, 1940, in the former Christian H. Buhl Hospital, Sharon, a daughter of the late Oscar I. and Helen M. (Vantell) Laycock. She was a 1958 graduate of Hickory High School and completed courses at both Youngstown State University and Penn State Shenango Valley Campus.
Barb began her career at the Mercer County Board of Assistance and spent more than 47 years in healthcare, between Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital, Horizon Health in Greenville and UPMC in Farrell. Throughout her nearly 50 years, she worked in the switchboard, admissions, purchasing, ultrasound and medical records departments. Following her retirement from the hospital, she volunteered for more than 10 years at UPMC, Shenango Valley until her passing. Additionally, Barb worked in the purchasing department of Sharon Regional Medical Center for three years and in the same capacity at General American Transportation Company (GATX), Sharon.
Her husband of 17 years, Raymond W. Fuoco, passed away in March of 1977. She later married Ramon Cooper, sharing 28 years as partners. Ramon passed away in July of 2019.
Barb was a redheaded spitfire who took on every challenge life gave her, and never used that as an excuse. She was as independent as they came. After the death of her husband, she was left with very little to raise three young children. Through her determination and a lot of love, she was driven to persevere. She used every gift that God gave to her.
Barb was kind, loving, gracious and had a beautiful soul. She was caring, giving and full of compassion her entire life. Everyone got the time of day from her (whether they wanted it or not).
She lived to spend time with her family and friends and loved all of them deeply, especially her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Her passion was for the beach. She enjoyed the water, especially Daytona and Virginia Beach, where she spent as much time as possible. Barb was also a NASCAR fan and looked forward to the Daytona 500. She also followed the NFL and occasionally watched baseball.
Barb was a member of the Reynolds VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 7599; and a card club.
She leaves behind to cherish her legacy; a son, Joseph Fuoco and his wife Melissa, of Greenville; a daughter, Michele Bradac and her husband Patrick, of Hermitage; eight grandchildren, Allison (Ricky) Brittian, of Savanah, GA, Jenna (Devin) Rainey, of Greenville, Joseph Fuoco, of Hermitage, Gregory Bradac, of Sharon, Helyna Bradac, of Erie, Ashley (Gotti) Barrett, of Virginia Beach, VA, John (Stevi) Marshall, Jr., of Carnegie, PA, and Luke (Britnee) Marshall, of Zelienople, PA; four great-grandchildren, Harper Brittian, Amelia Barrett, John Marshall III, and Theodore Marshall; and one great-grandchild on the way.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, Barb was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Fuoco (Conti), in 2019.
Barb was loved by all and today, she is walking with the angels as a good and faithful servant.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Reynold VFW, Ladies Auxiliary, 115 Edgewood Dr., Greenville, PA 16125.
