Barbara J. Duncan, 67, of Mt. Jackson passed away peacefully Saturday evening, December 8, 2018, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

Mrs. Duncan was born August 25, 1951, in New Castle, a daughter of the late William L. and Lillie M. (Brooks) Nicholson. A lifelong resident of Mt. Jackson, Barb graduated from Mohawk Area High School in 1969. She was also an alumna of Kent State University, Kent, OH, graduating with a bachelor's of science degree in business administration.

Barb was a longtime member of Independent Methodist Church, Shenango Twp.

She was an avid supporter of the New Castle Police Dept. K-9 Corps and also volunteered to help her daughter while raising funds for the former "Paws for Peace" organization in New Castle.

Barb loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many activities.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris "Dorey" Duncan Scott and her husband, Derek, of Mt. Jackson; a brother, Billy Nicholson and his wife, Kathy, of Cannonsburg, PA; and three grandsons, William "Zayne," Zarek and Zavary.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her former husband , Harry P. Duncan.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (12-12-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday (12-13-18), in the funeral home, with Rev. Frederick Gilbert, pastor of Independent Methodist Church, officiating.

Entombment: Castleview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, New Castle.
