IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara E.
Burdick
March 28, 1927 – February 3, 2025
Barbara E. Burdick, 97, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday evening, February 3, 2025, in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Burdick was born on March 28, 1927, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (McCoy) Neal. She was a 1945 graduate of Sharon High School.
She married Joseph I. Burdick, on April 11, 1959. He passed away on September 24, 2000. Together, they built their home in 1962, where she lived until her passing.
Prior to marriage, she worked as a credit supervisor at the former Sears Roebuck Corporation. Once her children were in school, she was employed by the City of Hermitage, retiring from the treasurer's office on May 29, 1992.
Barb was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, where she was a former member of the Ladies Guild. In recent years, she looked forward to receiving monthly communion brought to her by a family friend, Theresa.
She was also a former member of the Patagonia Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. For more than 70 years, Barb and her classmates participated in a card club.
An avid baker, she was also a talented knitter, making numerous baby sweaters for her family and friends. Above all, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Judith Andrzejewski, Carol (Raffaele) Branca, all of Hermitage, and Diane Haywood, of Hubbard; a son, Joseph (Deborah) Burdick, of Latrobe, PA; eight grandchildren, Sean (Dominique) Haywood, Kayla (fiancé Austyn) Haywood, Tyler (Kayla) Branca, Chad (Sophie) Branca, Jeremy (Madison) Branca, Jared (Samantha) Andrzejewski, Jacob (significant other Madelein) Andrzejewski, Joshua Andrzejewski; five great-grandchildren, Brycin, Harper, Milo, Gianna and Lily; a sister, Patricia Kohler, Bedford, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Scott Andrzejewski; future son-in-law, Edward Stephenson; four sisters, Bernice Houston, Zita Kretser, Elizabeth Aaron and Mary Louise Frazier; and a brother, James Neal.
Barb's family would like to thank the Golden Caregivers, along with her neighbor, friend and caregiver, Pat. All of these women were truly "Barb's Angels" who cared for her over the years and became her family. Their kindness, compassion and love will never be forgotten.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at www.stjude.org; or a charity of the donor's choice.
