Obituary

Barbara Gibb Brenneman of Hermitage passed away at 3:23 a.m. Tuesday ( 1-19-16 ) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, after a long term illness. She was 78.

Mrs. Brenneman was born Jan. 4, 1938, in Sewickley, PA, a daughter of Wilbur and Helen Elder Gibb.

She grew up in Sandy Lake, PA and was a graduate of Lakeview High School.

Barbara was a teller at Mercer County State Bank prior to her marriage and later worked in the same capacity for a few years in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

A homemaker, she was a member of Sharpsville First United Methodist Church for more than 40 years.

Barbara was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for many years and loved church, family, shopping, collecting and vacations.

She also enjoyed her time with friends and was a member of a card club for more than twenty five years.

Barbara and Jim raised their family in Hermitage and lived happily in the home that they built in 1967.

Surviving are: her husband of 56 years, James Brenneman, whom she married in the Sandy Lake United Methodist Church on June 19, 1959; a daughter, Pamela B. Bole and her husband James, San Jose, CA; four grandchildren, Ryan James Bole and Colleen Barbara Bole, both San Jose; and Kevin and Scott Brenneman, both Baden, PA; and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Brenneman, also of Baden. She also leaves two brothers, Robert Gibb and his wife Charlene, Endwell, NY; and William Gibb and his wife Carol, Hermitage; and a sister, Robin Woodson, Radcliff, KY.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Todd Brenneman, who died accidently in 2009.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharpsville First United Methodist Church, 148 E. Shenango St., Sharpsville, PA 16150; or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 , in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.


Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, in the Sharpsville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Yurko, Jr., pastor, officiating.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
