Barbara L. (Hartle) Barker, 818 Butler Ave., New Castle, PA, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Jameson Hospital after an extended illness. She was 67.
Mrs. Barker was born June 2, 1943 in Butler, PA a daughter of Frank and Dorothy Lewis Hartle.
She moved here as a young girl and attended New Castle schools. Barbara was a former Brownie troop leader and a member of the Cultural German Society. She enjoyed bowling, crafts and going to The Meadows.
Barbara was a loving mother known for her kindness and humor.
Surviving are: her husband, Everett E. Barker, Sr., whom she married February 5, 1999; three daughters, Crystal Magliocca and her husband John, New Castle; Carla Sokoloski and her husband Douglas, Pulaski, PA; and Kelly Smith and her husband Joseph, New Castle; two sons, Everett E. Barker, Jr. and his wife Jeannette, New Castle; and Jon W. Barker and his wife Stacy, New Castle; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren and another one due in March; six sisters, Betty Byers and her husband Art, Saxonburg, PA; Bernice Iorio, Edinburg, PA; Beverly Metzgar and her husband Ellis, Pulaski, PA; Nancy Julia Metzgar and her husband Don, New Castle; Linda Waddington and her husband Greg, Lynchburg, Virginia; and Sherry Michaels and her husband Richard, New Castle; three brothers, Frank Hartle and his wife Tracy; Bernard Hartle and his wife Donna; and Gary Hartle and his wife Jody, all New Castle; Barbara's father-in-law, Everett P. Barker, New Castle; a brother-in-law, Louie Ray, Butl!
er; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Linda Barker, San Francisco, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Hartle who died in infancy; and Bonnie Ray; her mother-in-law, June Barker; and a brother-in-law, Marion Iorio.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington D.C. 20004.
Calling hours will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2011 in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
