A funeral service will be held on Friday for Ashley Nicole Harmon, Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, and Slippery Rock, who passed away tragically on Monday evening (4-25-11) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 19.
Ashley was born on September 12, 1991 in Sharon and was a 2010 honors graduate of Sharon High School where she excelled in many areas. A member of the National Honors Society, she was also a member of the Sharon Tigers Cheerleading squad for 7 years and danceline for one year. She also participated in choir, track, swimming, and tennis. In her senior year, she was casted for the lead role in Guys and Dolls as the feisty character Adelaide, and she also sang with the schools talented Tiger Kittens. Beginning in the 4th grade, Ashley loved performing and participated in many talent shows until her freshman year. She also participated in the Penn State Talent Search while in high school.
In her younger years, she practiced martial arts and earned her black belt in Karate. She was adventurous and loved rock climbing, running, swimming, and enjoying nature.
Ashley was currently a 4.0 student at Slippery Rock University where she was on the Deans List studying Environmental Science. She was currently enrolled In the ROTC program and was a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where she was known as 'White Wolf'.
She worked at Panera Bread, and Shenango Valley Cinema, both Hermitage.
She is survived by her mother, the former Sandra K. Burger, at home, her sister and brother in law, Rebecca J. Brandt and Alan Brandt, Hermitage,her brother Geoff Wilson aka Tater, her maternal grandparents, Donald Lewis and Phyllis Jean Burger, Hermitage; she also leaves an aunt, Kathy L. Laverty and her husband Brian (who she called 'Uncle Bunny'), an uncle, Rusty Burger and his wife Sue, West Middlesex; her 5 cousins, Chris Bartel, Erie; Todd Bartel, Tampa FL; Rustin, Katelin, and Jenny Burger, all of Pittsburgh, and her special friend, Clay Ruminski.
