Arlene J. Carr, 76, of New Castle passed away the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at her residence.

Born on April 15, 1941, in New Castle, she was a daughter of late Arthur R. and Mildred V. Mason Johnson.

A lifelong area resident, Arlene was a 1959 graduate of New Castle High School.

She married the love of her life, John C. Carr, on Nov. 10, 1960, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2014.

Arlene was a member of St. Mary's Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish.

She is survived by a daughter, Colleen D. Calvert and her husband, Ronald, of New Castle; two sons, John A. Carr and his wife, Marian, of New Castle, and Edward J. Carr and his wife, Dixee, of Alliance, Ohio; six grandchildren, Kylie (Ed) Kelly, Ronald Calvert, Mitchel Carr, and Bethany, Andre and Caleb Carr; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Mia Kelly.

Beside her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in by a brother, Raymond Johnson.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
