Anthony F. Sarcinella, DeBrakeleer St, Farrell, passed away peacefully at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday (4-18-12) in the UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell. He was 87.
He was born October 29, 1924 in Sharon, the son of Louis and Mary Puhak Sarcinella. He was a member of Farrell High Schools graduating class of 1942.
A lifelong area resident, he worked for over 25 years as a fitter for the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, he etired in 1985. Following his retirement from Westinghouse, he worked at the Pennsylvania State Liquor Store in Hermitage for many years. Earlier in his life he worked for the former Sabo Candy Company, Farrell, and the former Fairway Homes, Sharon.
He is a former member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.
A decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during WWII in the European Theatre of operations and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945 with the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Medal, the American Theater of Operations Medal, and ultimately the WW II victory Medal. He was a lifetime member of the Farrell VFW, Post 5286.
Mr. Sarcinella simply enjoyed spending time with his family and a good round of golf.
His wife, the former Betty K. Martini, whom he married July 2, 1949, passed away August 2, 2007.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail M. Zagoren and her husband Allen, Clive, Iowa his son, Robert L. Sarcinella and his wife Holly, Liberty Hill, Texas; a cousin who was like a sister to him and who was raised with him, Thomasina Ross, and four grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer Zagoren and Allison & Amy Sarcinella.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Thressa Sarcinella, his two brothers, Phillip Sarcinella, and an infant Anthony Sarcinella.
