Anthony "Tony" Palanti, 85, of Hermitage passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, October 30, 2018, in St. Paul's Senior Living Community, Greenville.
Mr. Palanti was born September 17, 1933, in Sharon, a son of the late Nunzio and Armenia (Santell) Palanti. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Farrell High School in 1951 and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Era.
Anthony retired in 1992 from Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant, where he worked as a lab technician for 42 years. During retirement he worked in the Walmart Photo Center, Hermitage.
Anthony was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, and was previously a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, where he served as a Eucharistic minister.
He enjoyed photography and using tech devices, especially his Kindle. Anthony liked listening to music and traveling with his wife, Mary Ann. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, particularly during the holidays.
Surviving are: his beloved wife of 62 years, the former Mary Ann Testani, whom he married July 21, 1956; three daughters, Darlene Palanti, Dillsburg, PA, Theresa Hnida, Pierpont, OH, and Annette (Michael) Pomponio, Greenville; five grandchildren, Michael (Allison) Janosko, Maria Janosko, Ryan Hnida, Andrea Manko; and Joseph Pomponio; four great grandchildren, Maddox and Greyson Janosko, Skylar Richards, Nolan Pomponio; and a sister, Rose Settle, Sharon.
In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Palanti.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1245 Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (11-2-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon; and from 10:30 a.m. until the Mass Saturday (11-3-18) in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Rd, West Middlesex, PA.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, in the church, with Rev. Glenn Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
Full military honors will be rendered by the Wheatland A.L., Farrell and West Middlesex VFW honor guard.
Entombment: St. Rose Mausoleum, Hermitage.
