Obituary

Anthony D. Massaro, of 110 Oticon Drive, New Castle, Pa. passed away peacefully in Jameson Hospital, New Castle, on Friday (8-21-09) at 9:42 a.m. following an extended illness. He was 78.
Mr. Massaro was born on June 18, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Martha Sabelli and Anthony Daniel Massaro Sr.
He graduated from Youngstown East High School in 1949. He matriculated to Youngstown College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1953. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Ohio State University in 1957.
Tony, as he was known by his family and friends, retired from Eli Lilly & Company in 1995 after a 35 year career. At Eli Lilly, Tony maintained his pharmaceutical license and had a prestigious career in pharmaceutical sales. He won multiple awards for sales volume, and brought a personal approach that his clients appreciated.
He was a member of Mary Mother of Hope Parish. He enjoyed college football and was a fan of both Notre Dame and his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. He took joy in a good round of golf at the Lake Club with his F Troop buddies and he also enjoyed discussing politics with his McDonald breakfast club. Tony was also known to bring out his accordion from time to time.
His wife of 50 years, the former Joanne Kellish whom he married on November 27, 1958, in Struthers Ohio, survives at the residence. Also surviving are his three daughters, Marilyn Hartman and her husband Chris, Medina, Oh; Jean Massaro, Pittsburgh; Elizabeth Stewart and her husband Jeff of Monroe MI; and his son Paul Massaro and his wife Brigid of Delafield, WI; seven grandchildren, Marissa, Shauna, and Andrew Hartman, Laura and Evan Stewart, and Brian and Aidan Massaro. He is also survived by his sister Loretta Massaro, Youngstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday (8-25-09) in St. Mary Church, New Castle with Rev. Victor J. Molka and Rev. Edward J. Neroda concelebrating.
The family would like to thank the caring health professionals and our family and friends who provided us with love and support over the last several months.
