Obituary

A funeral service will be held Wednesday for Anthony C. 'Tony' Gera, 523 Grant St. Sharon. He passed away at 7:43 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 50.

Mr. Gera was born on Aug. 16, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas, to Charles J. and Carol Miller Gera.

Anthony attended Sharon High School. Following high school, he was employed at LCS ? Lexington Connector Seals in Vienna. He was baptized at St. Joseph's Church in Sharon.

Anthony was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and, earlier in life, liked to water ski. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends; most of all, he loved spending time with his children.

Mr. Gera is survived by: his parents, Charles and Carol Gera, Sharon; a son, Dylan Johnston, Masury; a daughter, Savana Roze Johnston, Jeannette, Pa.; three brothers, Charles W. Gera and his wife Monica, Sharon; Timothy Gera and his fiancée Sheri, Austintown, Ohio; and Richard Gera and his wife Marline, Hermitage; and a sister, Teresa and her husband Robert Sennett Sr., Masury. Anthony also leaves his companion and friend, Roberta Johnston, Jeannette; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Hilda Miller; and paternal grandparents, Helen and John Yassam.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Anthony A. Geramita, 90, of New Castle, passed away at his home on the morning of December 22, 2011.

Anthony was born in Pittsburgh on December 26, 1920 to the late Francesco and Francesca Alba Geramita.

On September 26, 1942 he entered the United States Army Air Corps, during his service he graduated from Air Force Aircraft Engineer School, The B-52 Bombers Assembly plant School in Detroit and The Air Force Cadet Program as a Commissioned Bombardier Officer. He was retained at the school as a Flying Bombardier Cadet Instructor until the end of W.W. II, and was honorably discharged on October 26, 1945.

Anthony retired from Rockwell international Spring Division as an electrical maintenance supervisor after 43 years of service.

He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish.

He was married to the late Mary S. Monaco on August 10, 1943 and she preceded him in death on September 22, 1993.

He is survived by one daughter Theresa Falba and her husband, Lenny, of New Castle, two sons, Frank P. Geramita and his wife Janet, of Rices Landing, PA, James W. Geramita and his wife Lori, of New Castle. One daughter in law, Marcia Geramita of New Castle and a sister Rose Fischetti, of Pittsburgh. Twelve grand children and fourteen great grand children also survive.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Anthony J. Geramita along with one sister, Lena Fornataro and three brothers, Jimmie, Charles and Samuel Geramita.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Tuesday at St. Lucy Church, the Rev. Frank Almade will officiate. A procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
