Anthony P. "Butchie" Fontana, 69, of New Castle passed away on Dec. 29, 2015, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Anthony was born in New Castle on Oct. 21, 1946, to the late Paul and Quengetta NettieZingaro Fontana.
"Butchie," as he was known to his family and friends, graduated in 1964 from New Castle High School.
He entered the Navy on Dec. 2, 1965, and served on the USS Lexington until he was honorably discharged on Oct. 16, 1969.
At the time of his passing, Butchie was employed in sales by Hovis Auto and Truck Supply.
He was of the Catholic faith. Butchie loved watching Notre Dame football, as well as playing bocce. He participated in several leagues.
He is survived by his daughter, Dianna Brown, and her husband, Tim, of New Castle and two sons; his twin sister, Madeline "Peewee" Bartley and her husband, Jim, of Munhull, Pa.; four grandchildren, Julian, Morgan, Hannah and Connor Brown; one great-granddaughter, Payton Toy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites in the funeral home at 6 p.m.
Interment will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
