Obituary

Anthony "Tony" P. Chiodo of Shenango Township passed away peacefully at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, in his home, with his loved ones by his side. He was 79.

Mr. Chiodo was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Farrell, a son of Peter and Mary Spachetti Chiodo.

Tony owned and operated the former Gulf service stations in Sharon and West Middlesex for nearly 20 years. He then worked at the former Golden Dawn in Sharon; as a produce manager at the former Kroger's in Hermitage; as the service manager for Hertz in Sharon; and lastly, Cerni Motors in Girard, Ohio, from which he retired.

Tony was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and being at his cabin in Cook Forest in Allegheny National Forest.

He was an excellent mechanic and raced his '55 Chevy, Diego Red, at Sunset Drag Strip on Charleston Road.

He was a member of First Assembly of God, Hermitage.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Lucille Sabino, whom he married May 17, 1958; a daughter, Toni Chiodo, West Middlesex; two sons, Pete Chiodo and his wife Tammy, Howland, Ohio; and Master Sgt. Michael Chiodo and his wife Tracey, Charleston, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, Alyssa Means and her husband Mark; Abbie, Tyler and Arica Davis; Brittaney Cardinal and her husband Aaron; Ian Chiodo and his wife Camille; Ashley Radkowski and her husband Ryan; Michael Chiodo and his wife Heather; Gina Runnels and her husband Zach; and Anthony Chiodo; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geri Marine and her husband Dr. John Marine, Waterford, Mich.; and Anita Tyron and her husband Cal Tyron, Brookfield; a brother, John Chiodo and his wife Michelle, Sharpsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care.

Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday (6-9-16) in First Assembly of God, 1455 N. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, with the Rev. Kenneth Martin, pastor, and Rev. Dr. John Marine, Tony's brother-in-law and pastor of Auburn Hills (Mich.) Baptist Church, co-officiating.
