Annette M. Bush, of Sharon, formerly of Corning, NY, went to be with the Lord at 6:23 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, OH. She was 80.
Mrs. Bush was born August 15, 1937, in Corning, NY, a daughter of James and Anna (Dailey) Hanshaw. She was a 1956 graduate of Corning Northside Blodgett School. Following high school, she began working for Ingersoll Rand, Painted Post, NY, before furthering her education at The Salvation Army School for Officers Training in New York City. Annette became an officer and achieved the rank of Captain. Later, she worked as a book keeper for The Salvation Army in both, Pen Argyl, PA; and Corning until she retired in 1998 with over 34 years of service.
She was a member of The Salvation Army and later the Central Baptist Church, both in Corning. Annette was also a member and served as the Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star; a Silver Star Mother; and was a faithful volunteer at the Corning Glass Works Museum. She was also active in the Senior Center at The Salvation Army in Sharon.
Annette enjoyed doing crafts, making homemade cards and meeting her friends on Sunday evening at McDonald's in Corning. She was also very musical, she loved singing and playing piano. She played piano at her church for many years. Annette loved to travel with her friends to country gospel and bluegrass festivals.
She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Flanders and her husband Scott, Sharon; three grandchildren, Jesse, Thomas and Adelaide Flanders; two sisters, Sandra Oakley and her husband Alan; and Mary Hanshaw; two brothers, Bill Hanshaw, all of Corning; and Raymond Hanshaw and his wife Debbie, Gang Mills, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Jeffery Earl Bush, whom she married in June, 1968, passed away in December 1969. Annette was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James Hanshaw, Jr. and Robert Hanshaw.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army, Senior Center, 660 Fisher Hill St., Sharon, PA 16146 .
Calling hour will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday (02/03/2018) in Central Baptist Church, Corning.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. in the Church.
