Obituary

Anne Mallick Goda, 2355 W. 260th St., New Prague, MN, formerly of Sharpsville, PA passed away peacefully in her home in New Prague, MN on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.   She was 92.

Mrs. Goda was born on March 28, 1932, in Maizeville, Schuylkill County, PA to Peter and Paraska Mallick.  She was a 1949 graduate of Sharpsville High School.

Anne was a devout Catholic and loved her church.  She was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage.  She served on the parish advisory committee for several years, was a charter member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild, a member of the church's catering group, and the church's rosary society.  She also taught CCD for several years and was a member of Greek Catholic Union 258. While living in Minnesota, she attended St. Patrick of Cedar Lake Township.

After graduating from high school, she joined the staff of The Herald as a Sharpsville reporter.  Later she wrote for the modern living department.   Before retiring in 1997 after 31 years, she was the obituary writer for The Herald.

She loved an adventure and traveled extensively after her retirement.   Her favorite places were Italy, Slovakia, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, France, and Israel.  The highlight of her life was a private audience with Pope John Paul II, now canonized a Saint, while on a trip to Rome.

Anne moved to Minnesota twelve years ago to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Michael Rossi.   Surviving in addition to Stephanie and her husband Michael is her daughter, Carol Keck and her husband, John, of Aliquippa, PA; and her daughter-in-law, Joyce Settle-Goda, of Hermitage.

Anne had six grandchildren who she adored, Ryan (Allison) Keck, Christopher (Genevieve) Rossi, Matthew Rossi (fiancé, Hannah Dailey), Zachary Rossi, Amanda (Robbie) Tingler, and Sarah Goda, and had seven beautiful great-granddaughters.

She is also survived by her sister, Mary Miller, Hermitage, and a sister-in-law, Lucy Mallick, Sharpsville.

Her husband, Edward M. Goda, whom she married on September 12, 1953, died on April 29, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by her son, David Goda, and her brothers, Bill Mallick, John Mallick, and Steve Mallick and his wife, Emy.
