Funeral services will be held Friday for Anna E. Pawluk, Nugent's Convalescent Home, formerly of Hermitage and Sharon, who passed away peacefully at 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2012 in the home of natural causes. She was 83.
Anna was born March 5, 1928 in Porto Union Brazil the daughter of Fredricko and Lucilia Stratmann.
A high school graduate, she studied nursing in Brazil and became a registered nurse. She immigrated to the United States in 1963. Unable to work as a registered nurse in the United States, she studied to become a nurse's aid and worked for 25 years at Sharon Regional Health System in both their obstetrics and gynecology departments.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Johns Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sharon, and belonged to the church's Sisterhood.
Anna enjoyed dancing to polka music, reading, and she was alsoa great cook.
Her husband, Ivan "John" Pawluk whom she married on December 31, 1954 in Brazil, passed away November 19, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Katia O. Starr, Sharon, and Ivana Kaletka, California, a son, Jerry Pawluk and his wife Mary Clare, Smyrna, DE; six grandchildren, Kaleb and Codi L. Starr, Annelise and Lydia Hoffman and Selena Kaletka, Alexander Pawluk; one great grandson, Gage Starr, four brothers, Frederico, Enriqo, Adamar, and Carlos Stratmann, two sisters, Hielda and Jusara of Brazil; two sister in laws, Irena Flynn, Conneaut Lake, and Olena Farion, also of Brazil.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Jeni.

Dorothy T. Pearce, 88, formerly of Delaware Avenue died the night of April 16, 2009, in Jameson Hospital.
Born Oct. 4, 1920, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Ella Cassidy Conrad Vallely and Urias Conrad.
Due to the death of her father, she was lovingly raised by her late stepfather, James Vallely.She married William F. Pearce on Aug. 16, 1955. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2007. She was also preceded in death by Thomas L. McCreary and Henry P. Scheffler.
Mrs. Pearce retired as a decorator and assistant manager for the Sherwin-Williams Co. Her first job was as a clerk for the former Neisner's Department Store. She also worked as a trained cosmetician for the former New Castle Dry Goods Company and as a sales associate for Murawski Jewelers.
She attended New Castle High School and placed a high priority on the value of an education for her children and grandchildren. A devoted mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed the arts and attended music and dance performances. She was interested in news events and watched CNN daily.
Mrs. Pearce was a member of St. Mary Church of Mary Mother of Hope Parish.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law with whom she lived, Dr. Bille Pearce Rondinelli and Frank T. Rondinelli of New Castle; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl McCreary Mandia and Dr. Richard J. Mandia of Aiken, S.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin J. Scheffler and Donna Scheffler of Connellsville, Pa.; a sister, Mary Scanlan of Verona, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Jaclyn Rose Rondinelli, Jonathan Robert Rondinelli and Justin Paul Rondinelli, all of New Castle; Paul J. Mason of Pittsburgh, Thomas R. Mason of Maui, Hawaii, Jennifer L. Arnold of Apex, N.C., Michelle Keefer of Connellsville, Pa., and Kevin J. Scheffler, Jr. of Fox Chapel. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Jared and Ryan Keefer; Julie, Emily, and Lindsay Scheffler, and Jackson, William and Ella Arnold, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Brunner and James Vallely.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow for St. Mary Church where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. The Rev. Victor J. Molka, Jr., pastor of Mary Mother of Hope Parish will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Mary Frances Pearce, 459 Boyd Dr., Sharon passed away peacefully of natural causes at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (5-4-10) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 86.
She was born on February 19, 1924 in Sharon, Pa the daughter of Peter J. and Mary Kuhner Whalen.
A lifelong area resident, she was a 1942 graduate of Sharon High School.
She worked as a switchboard operator for the Pennsylvania State University, Shenango Valley Campus for 11 years and retired in 1997. She was also an officer at Sharon Stationary and Supply Inc. in downtown Sharon for 24 years.
Mrs. Pearce was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.
In her early years, she was active in both Girl Scouting and Cub Scouting and was a member and Past President of the St. Joseph School Parent Teacher Association.
She was a former member of the Sharon Quota Club.
She is survived by her husband, John A. 'Jack' Pearce whom she married on June 25, 1945.
Also surviving are her three sons, Jack A. Pearce and his wife Susan of Wayne, Pa; Michael W. Pearce and his wife Sandra, Dallas, TX; and Thomas H. Pearce, Tempe, AZ; six grandchildren, David Pearce, Mark Pearce, Joshua Pearce and his wife Jen, Solomon Pearce and his wife Erica, Mary Rachael Austin and her husband David, and Elijah Pearce; three great grandchildren, Emily, Fiona, and Sebastian Pearce; her two sisters, Emelia A. Kennehan and her husband William H., Youngstown, OH; and Phyllis J. Nelson, Sharpsville, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen W. Linder, and a brother Robert M. Whalen.
