Obituary

Anna M. Marks, formerly of Sharon, passed away unexpectedly at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (10-23-11) in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. She was 93.

Mrs. Marks was born August 20, 1918, in Sharon, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Boila) Urdea.

She was a lifelong area resident and attended Sharon High School.

Anna was employed by Mott Robertson Ice Cream Company prior to her marriage and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima- St. Ann Church, Farrell.

Anna was a homemaker and devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking and her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren. Anna was a very kind and generous person and made friends easily wherever she went. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Her husband of 50 years, Frank R. Marks, whom she married October 5, 1940, passed away January 29, 1991.

Surviving are: a son, William C. Marks, Farrell; a daughter, Monica Zipay and her husband Michael, Sharon; seven grandchildren, Deborah, William and Rev. Kevin E. Marks; and Joseph, Kristin, Shawn and Juliana Zipay; five great grandchildren, Shayna and Ralph Odem; and Janayia, SaVanah and Kurtasia Chester; a brother, Thomas Urdea and his wife Katherine, Poland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Besides her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by three sisters, Matilda Deflin, Olivia 'Jane' Pryts and Ortenzia 'Betty' Shrawder; and two brothers, Piff and John Urdea.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff and nurses at St. Paul Homes who took exceptional care of Anna during the past two and a half years.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (10-26-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday (10-27-11) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Anthony Cemetery, Hermitage.
