Anna Mae Finnerty, 83, of Fairmont Avenue passed away peacefully of natural causes at 12:35 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, in Haven Convalescent Home following an extended illness. Anna Mae was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Scottdale, Pa. She was one of five children of Michael and Anna Herka Zerilla. She graduated from Scottdale High School. She married James "Doc" Finnerty on Nov. 15, 1958. He survives at home. Anna Mae was always a loving homemaker to her husband, children and grandchildren. She retired from the Hostess Shop at the former St. Francis Hospital, where she had worked after raising her family. Anna Mae was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, St. Mary Church, where she was a familiar face and volunteer at the weekly bingo and annual Easterfest. In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by two daughters, Suzanne (Randy) Costello of Pulaski Township and Annie Finnerty of Medina, Ohio; a son, John M. (Gina) Finnerty of Reading, Pa.; two sisters, Agnes (Bob) Ilisevich of Meadville and Elizabeth Wolfe of Export, Pa.; and a brother, William (Sandi) Zerilla of Scottsdale, Pa. A loving grandmother, she is survived by her five grandchildren who she loved dearly, Emily Costello and her fiancé, Phil O'Donnell, Matthew Finnerty, Andrew Costello, Danielle Finnerty and Stephen Costello. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Zerilla, and her son, Thomas J. Finnerty. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday for St. Mary Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Michael R. Ackerman will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
