Anna V. Brooks of O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury, formerly of Mertz Towers, Sharpsville, and Farrell, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. She was 87. Mrs. Brooks was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Parnassus, Westmoreland County, a daughter of Stephan and Victoria Fanecka Makowski. Moving to the area as a young girl, she was raised in Farrell and attended Farrell High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Redeemer Ministry Center of St. Jude's Episcopal Church, Hermitage. Surviving are a daughter, Victoria Kee and her husband Clifford, Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sons, Lawrence Brooks and his wife Elsie, Masury; and John Brooks, Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, James, Kevin and Larry Brooks; and a great-grandson, Kasen Brooks. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Stephan "Steve" Makowski, John Makowski, Milton "Max" Makowski and an infant; and a sister, Regina Kerlick.
