Funeral services will be held on Saturday for Ann Guley Pugliese, John XXIII Home, Hermitage, and formerly of 619 Emerson Ave., Farrell, who passed away unexpectedly on her birthday, Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 6:56 AM. She was 86. She will be sorely missed by her loving family and her John XXIII family as well.
She was born on July 15, 1923 in Masury, Ohio the daughter of Stephen and Helen Dvorsky Guley. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Farrell High School. She was devoted to her family. Her cooking was known far and wide.
She worked during the war as a crane operator at the former Sharon Steel Corporation and owned Tannie's Antiques, Sharon with her husband before their retirement. She was an active member of the John XXIII community.
Mrs. Pugliese was a member of the former St. Ann's Church, Farrell.
She is survived by five children: Annette Miller, wife of the late Lawrence Miller, Medina, Ohio; Roseria "Poey" Wergin and her husband Gary, Rochester, New York; Patrick J. Pugliese, Jr. and his wife Marianne, Las Vegas, Nevada; Anthony 'Tony' Pugliese, Hermitage; Joseph Pugliese and his wife Judy, Erie, Pa.; ten grandchildren, Chad and Scott Miller, Kelly and Brian Wergin, Katie and Sam Pugliese, Chelsea and Kevin Pugliese, Donielle DeJohn and Paul Faella; five great-grandchildren, Joy, Haley and Ethan Miller; Patrick and Michael DeJohn; a sister-in-law, Mildred Zager, Hermitage and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Pugliese, Hermitage.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Patrick J. Pugliese, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Andrew and Stephen Guley, and two sisters Mary Gagliardi and Stella Stone.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, Pa. 16148. Our thanks for the kind care given by the John XXIII staff.
