Ann L. O'Malley, formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015, in St. Paul's Home, West Salem Township, where she has been a resident for the past three years. She was 91. Mrs. O'Malley was born September 9, 1924, in Lilly, PA, a daughter of Alex and Catherine Mazur Sawko. An alumna of Lilly (PA) High School, Ann moved to New York City following her graduation and worked as a secretary for a few years. She then relocated to Pennsylvania and married her high school sweetheart, Jim O'Malley. She and her husband were longtime residents of Hermitage where they raised their family. Ann was an active member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, where she was employed as a secretary for ten years. She loved to cook, spend quality time with her family and dance the polka with her husband as they glided effortlessly around the dance floor. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her husband, James O'Malley, whom she married June 15, 1946, passed away September 15, 1998. Surviving are: two daughters, Suzanne Byler and her husband Dan, Erie, PA; and Janine Monaco and her husband John, Buckeye, AZ; two sons, Patrick O'Malley and his wife Priscilla, Hot Springs Village, AR; and James O'Malley, Hermitage; six grandchildren, Dan and Braden Byler; Patrick O'Malley and his wife Kaila; Megan O'Malley; Jenna (Monaco) Ely and her husband Ernie; and Dustin Monaco; and a great grandchild, Jaxson Ely. Besides her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Detz; and five brothers, Alex, John, Peter, Nicholas and Paul Sawko. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's Home 339 E. Jamestown Rd., Greenville, PA 16125. Calling hour will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with the Rev. Jeffrey Noble, pastor, as celebrant. Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
