IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann
Mesin
September 27, 1926 – March 14, 2022
Ann (Bakovic) Mesin, 95, formerly of Farrell, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, March 14, 2022, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage.
Ann was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Farrell, PA, daughter of Marko and Marija (Vidovic) Bakovic who immigrated from Croatia. She was a 1944 graduate of Farrell High School. Ann continued her education at Shenango Valley Commercial Institute where she earned a 2-year business degree. Ann was employed by the Farrell City Building, where she was a professional secretary as well as the Steno clerk for the City of Farrell.
On May 18, 1957, she married the love of her life, Marko Mesin, who passed away on May 8, 2010. They had been married for almost 53 wonderful years. Ann and her late husband had humble giving hearts. They raised their two nieces that they brought from Croatia as their own daughters as well as bringing her husband's brother to the U.S. for a better life. They were both extremely generous with their love for helping others. Ann without a doubt left this world a better place than she found it and she will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.
While her two girls were in elementary school, she volunteered her time in their school office. Later, she became the parish secretary at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sharon, where she was a parishioner for most of her life.
As an active member of St. Anthony's Church, she enjoyed volunteering her time over the years and was a member of the St. Theresa's Altar Society where she served as President.
Ann loved to read books, do crossword puzzles, go to their cabin in the mountains on weekends, watch college basketball games on TV, attend church social functions as well as spend time with family and friends.
At St. John XXIII Home where she made her home for the last 8 years, Ann loved to attend daily mass, play Bingo with friends and attend various social gatherings offered at the Home as well as continue her avid love of reading books.
Surviving is a niece whom she raised as her own daughter, Bobbi (Ivan) Gataric and their three children, Joshua, Noah and Ella, all of San Diego, CA; a brother-in-law, Ante Mesin and his wife, Marija, of Hermitage; a niece, Anita Mesin; and a nephew, Ante Mesin. She also leaves many of her late husband's family members still living in Croatia.
In addition to her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John and Michael Bakovic; a sister, Kata Bakovic; and a niece, Milena Mesin, whom she brought from Croatia and raised as her own daughter.
A heartfelt and sincere thank you to the amazing staff at St. John XXIII Home that provided exceptional compassionate care over the years.
