Ann Apicelli of Avalon Nursing Home, formerly of Reis Street, New Castle, passed away peacefully at 12:32 a.m. Sunday in the home. She was 90. Ann was born in Wampum to the late Niculae and Mary Racotea Borza. She was a student of Ellwood City Lincoln High School, graduating class of 1942. She was also a graduate of the New Castle Business College. A homemaker she belonged to St. Jude Episcopal Church, Trinity worship site, New Castle. Ann was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two daughters, Elaine Rote, and Bonnie Fulkerson and her husband, Dan, all of New Castle; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a niece, Bobbi Jean Rozik, and her husband, Phillip. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by a brother, Nick Borza, and four sisters, Helen, Elizabeth, Victoria and Jennie Borza. Friends will be received one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, June 11, that begins at noon in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, with the Rev. Johanna M. Baker, associate vicar of St. Jude Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in Parkside Cemetery.
