Obituary

Anita L. Manilla, 91, of Farrell, passed away Monday morning, September 3, 2018, in her home.

Mrs. Manilla was born June 11, 1927, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Anthony and Maria (Gabrielle) Bertelli.  A lifelong area resident, she attended Farrell High School and was employed at the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. during WW II.

Anita was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.  She was also a member of the PTA when her children were in grade school and served as a poll worker for the Democratic Party in Farrell for many years.  She was very proud and honored to support veteran organizations.

Anita was a member of the Farrell Kiwannianne and later the Farrell Women's Club.  She enjoyed bowling and playing cards and loved to go dancing with her husband.  Anita was very social and made friends easily.

Her husband, Archie D. Manilla, whom she married November 30, 1946, passed away April 18, 1994.

Surviving are: two sons, Ronald D. Manilla, of Charlottesville, VA; and Jonathan Manilla and his wife JoAnn, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Annette Manilla, of Farrell; eight grandchildren, Teressa Manilla, Marcellino Manilla and his wife Nicholette; Dominic Manilla and his wife Louise; Danny Manilla and his wife Kelsey; Anna Parker and her husband JT; Joey Manilla, Tony Manilla and Nicci Manilla; and four great grandchildren, Marcellino, Nitalia, Leonardo and Bo Manilla.

Besides her parents and husband, Anita was preceded in death by a son, Larry D. Manilla; and two brothers and six sisters.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
