Obituary

Andrew Cipriano, Hermitage, passed away of natural causes at 12:20 a.m. on Saturday (12-31-11) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 91.

He was born on April 8,1920 in Farrell to Dominic and Victoria Monaco Cipriano.

He retired in 1982 from the former Sharon Steel Corporations Farrell Plant where he worked as a Mill Wright for 34 years.

A life long area resident, he attended Farrell Schools. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and later was called to duty by the United States Army.

He reached the rank of Technician 4th grade with Company C in the 126th Ordnance Battalion where he was a Tank Mechanic. A decorated war veteran he was honorably discharged on October 25, 1945 with the Purple Heart, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bonze Stars, the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, and ultimately the WWII Victory Medal.

Mr. Cipriano was an avid hunter who also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, Farrell.

His wife the former Stella Vasile whom he married on September 25, 1948, survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his son, Robert Cipriano and his wife Karen, West Middlesex, his daughter, Karen Donatelli and her husband Ronald, Hermitage, four grandchildren, Timothy Donatelli and his wife Adrian, Beckley, WV, Todd Donatelli and his wife Kristin, Hermitage, Natalie Carroll and her husband James, Cranberry Twp., and Brian Cipriano, Fairfax, VA; 7 great grandchildren, Evan and Bria Donatelli, Morgan and Dante Donatelli, Tyler Carroll, and Mackenzie and Lauren Leskovac; three brothers, Donald Cipriano, Hermitage; William Cipriano and his wife Agnes, Sharon; and Richard Cipriano and his wife Giovanna, Brookfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Adeline Trefts, and a brother, Michael Charles Cipriano.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, Pa.

Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday (1-4-12) at 12:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Donald E. Berdis pastor as the celebrant. A brief prayer service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday prior to leaving for the church.

Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage, Pa.
