Alvin G. 'Bunk' Caszatt of 2008 American Way, Hermitage, PA. passed away at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, February 7, 2010 at UPMC Shenango Valley Hospital after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was 74.
Mr. Caszatt was born in Sharon, PA on May 5, 1935, a son of the late Louis and Lois Likens Caszatt.
He attended Sharon High School. Bunk went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force.
Al has been employed for the past 35 years as the custodian at Temple Beth Israel.
Mr. Caszatt is of the Methodist faith. He was very passionate about Sharon High School Football and Basketball. Alvin enjoyed bowling, billiards, darts, playing cards, working in his garden, and being in the outdoors. He was also an excellent artist, where he enjoyed woodworking, oil based paints, and glass work.
Survivors include: his wife, Connie Stitt Caszatt, whom he married February 9, 1957; 2 daughters, Cindy Caszatt of Hermitage, PA, Linda and her husband Chuck Bonaquist, whom Alvin considered more like a son, of Hermitage, PA; 3 brothers, Louis Caszatt of Elverta, CA, William Caszatt of Sharpsville, and Joseph Caszatt of Hermitage, PA; 4 grandchildren, Amy and her husband Ben Hardesty, Aaron, Abby, and Maria Bonaquist; a great grandchild, Paul Hardesty.
Besides his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Everett and Thomas Caszatt.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Roberts, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Sharon.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery
