Allen "Big Al" W. Egelsky of Sharpsville passed away Wednesday morning, December 7, 2016, in his residence.
Mr. Egelsky was born July 27, 1941, in Farrell, a son of John F. and Roberta "June" Lloyd Egelsky.
He was a lifelong area resident and a 1961 graduate of Sharon High School.
Al was employed by Susi & Son's, Inc., Hermitage, where he worked as a boom truck driver for 38 years before retiring in 1998.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA and served as a Volunteer Fireman for Hermitage Volunteer Fire Dept. He also served as a Pack Leader for the Cub Scouts of America, Hermitage.
Al loved spending time outdoors, particularly grilling and slow cooking meats over an open pit on a rotisserie spit.
He also enjoyed woodworking and hunting, and in his youth, was a member of the Sharon High School Rifle Club earning several awards for marksmanship.
On weekends, with his son, Mark, and wife, Toni, Al would participate at local turkey shoots, Clark.
His wife, the former Antionette " Toni" Yurcich, whom he married February 8, 1980, passed away in 2007.
Surviving are: three daughters, Rose Egelsky and her fiancé Paul Spargo, Sharpsville; Gina Beach, Hermitage; and Kim Wallis and her husband Kurt, St. Louis, MO; a son, Mark A. Egelsky and his companion Amanda Beich, Sharpsville; a brother, Paul Egelsky and his wife Paula; Sharpsville; three grandchildren, Lindsey Carr and her husband Andrew; Rebecca Boitnott and her husband Travis; and Malana Beach; and four great grandchildren, Jade, Caleb and Terrance Carr; and Hanna Boitnott.
In addition to his wife, Al was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John F. Egelsky, II; and an infant granddaughter, Sage Egelsky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Humane Society of Mercer Co., 3005 E State St, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday (12-10-16) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, in the funeral home, with Rev. C. Charles Eckles, pastor of IHS Gospel Ministries, Hermitage, officiating.
Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
