Alice E. (Porterfield) McKelvey, 91, of Hermitage passed away peacefully with her sons at her side early Sunday morning, June 9, 2024, in Clepper Manor, Sharon.

Mrs. McKelvey was born June 4, 1933, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Harry and Amelia (Copper) Porterfield, and attended Sharon schools.

During her youth, Alice was active in the Salvation Army, served as a Captain, and played in the band. She also worked as a waitress at Coney Island Restaurant and as a clerk at G.C. Murphys, both in downtown Sharon.

Alice was of the Protestant faith.

A homemaker, she cooked seven days a week and had a talent for baking, especially pies. Alice enjoyed going on bus trips to the casino and playing bingo. She truly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alice's first husband, Walter Lyons, preceded her in death in October of 1962. She later married Harry McKelvey, Jr. on September 7, 1966, and enjoyed 56 wonderful years together until his passing on October 14, 2022.

Alice is survived by four sons, David Lyons (Joan), Transfer, Jamie McKelvey (Mila), of Virginia, Harry McKelvey, III, (Kristen), of Farrell, and Steven McKelvey, of Hermitage; two sisters, Elizabeth King (Doug), of Sharon, and Phyllis Hiles, of Franklin; five brothers, William, Howard, Francis, and George Porterfield all of Sharon, and Frank Porterfield, of Sharpsville; a brother-in-law, James McKelvey (Donna), Hartford, OH; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Alice was preceded in death by a son, Walter Lyons; a grandson, Jeremy Lyons; and five brothers, Charles, Clarence, Elmer, Harry, Jr., and James Porterfield.
