Alice Kather, 91, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, in her home.

Mrs. Kather was born July 26, 1929, in Bethel, PA, a daughter of the late Daniel and Ethel Marie (Flickinger) Kuhn. She attended the former Frogtown Country School and Volant Grade School.

An exceptional homemaker, Alice was an amazing cook. Prior to becoming a mother, she was employed at the Tavern in New Wilmington and for many years she took in laundry and cleaned homes in the area.

Alice was a former member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Mercer, and most recently attended Pentecostal Holiness Church, Sharpsville.

She was a kind and caring person who was always willing to give to someone in need. Alice loved music and singing and was extremely close to her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce A. Guthrie, of Sharon, and Janet (Steve) Miller, of Pikeville, TN; five sons, John W. (Joyce) Anderson, Jr., of Volant, PA, Gary D. (Betty) Anderson, West Middlesex, William L. (Kathy) Anderson, of Farrell, James F. Anderson, of Greenville, and Jeffery A. (Becky) Anderson, also of Greenville; two step-children, Jean Anne (Robert) Kather-Hendrick, of Little Valley, NY, and Shawn C. (Margaret) Kather, of Greenville; a sister, Doris Shaffer, of New Castle; a brother James Kuhn, of Pulaski; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and sixteen great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her first husband, John W. Anderson, Sr., whom she married November 12, 1946, and passed June 15, 1999; her second husband, Gene Kather, whom she married July 7, 2008, and passed January 10, 2015; and eight siblings.
