Alice S. Gribben, 88, of New Castle passed away Monday morning, Aug. 31, 2015, in Jameson Hospital. She was born in Ellwood City on Aug. 10, 1927, to the late Frank and Esther P. Nicklas Gribben. Alice attended St. Mary's School, and later graduated from New Castle High School. She was first employed at the former Johnson Bronze Co. and later retired from the former Lockley Manufacturing Co., where she worked as a purchaser. Alice was a member of St. Mary Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. She was a former member of the church's Ladies Guild and enjoyed volunteering for many of the church's fundraising events. Alice is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Tomlinson of New Jersey, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Tomlinson of Hackettstown, N.J., Renee and Dennis DiGia of New Castle, Jai and Jeff Badger of Grove City, Barb and Rick Flora of New Castle, Judi LaMarco of Hummelstown, Pa., and C.W. McQuiston of New Castle; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Preceding Alice in death besides her parents were three sisters, Mary Ann Tomlinson, Collette Peterson and Barbara McQuiston. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for St. Vitus Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by the Rev. William Siple. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Alice's name to Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, Pa. 16101.
