Alex F. Szakach of 3012 Kaitlin Ct., Hermitage, PA. passed away at 4:55 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at his residence. He was 81.
Mr. Szakach was born in Sharon, PA on August 8, 1927, a son of George Sr. and Rose Sandor Szakach.
Alex was a 1946 graduate of Sharon High School.
He went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Szakach was the owner and operator of Al's Uni Rentals from April 1, 1959 to April 1, 1989.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Farrell. Alex also belonged to the VFW Post 6166 of Hermitage, past member of the Elks Sharon Lodge No# 103, and a long time member of the German Home.
Alex was considered 'Mr. Fix-it' to his family, neighbors, and friends.
Survivors include: his wife, Helen Dan Szakach, whom he married May 21, 1968; a daughter, Nicolene 'Niki' and her husband Michael Cole of Warren, OH; 2 sisters-in-law; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; 3 brothers, George, Albert and John Szakach.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Daniel J. Kresinski, pastor of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.
Internment will be at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery.
