Alex C. Biro, 69, of Sharon, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, in his home.
Mr. Biro was born September 19, 1949, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Elmer and Frances Jean (Nichols) Biro.
Alex enlisted in the US Army, serving as an infantryman during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army and enlisted in the US Marines, returning to serve in Vietnam.
He was employed for many years by the US Postal Service. He began as a mail carrier in Hazelwood, PA, before transferring to the general mail facility in North Side, Pittsburgh, retiring in 2005.
Alex was a soft spoken man who would help anyone in need. He loved coffee and playing the board game "Risk." He also enjoyed working on cars.
He is survived by a daughter, Shirley Fleming and her husband D.J., of Indiana, PA; three sons, Damian Biro, of Australia; Michael Biro, of Sharon; and Jason Biro and his wife Valerie, Wintersville, OH; five grandchildren, Hailey and Hannah Biro; and Ella, Callahan and Alyssa Fleming; a sister, Janel Monsch and her husband Gary; and a brother, Eric Biro.
In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Biro.
Calling hours will be 3 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday (01/03/2019) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home, with Rev. C. Charles Eckles, pastor of I.H.S. Gospel Ministries, officiating.
Military honors will be rendered by Wheatland, West Middlesex and Farrell Honor Guard.
Interment: National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
