Obituary

Albert C. Missory, 891 March St., Sharon, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday (12-21-11) in the O'Brien Memorial Care Center, Masury, after an extended illness. He was 92.

Mr. Missory was born Jan. 1, 1919 in Masury a son of the late Pasquale and Rosalie Caputo Missory.

He was a lifelong area resident and a 1937 graduate of Farrell High School.

Al retired as a group leader in 1982 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. where he was employed for 41 years. He was a member and former representative of the International Union of Electrical workers.

Al was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell. In his younger days, he raised hunting beagles and loved to work on cars. He was a member of many Westinghouse championship softball teams during the 1940's and was a standout catcher. Al enjoyed hunting near his McKean County camp, 'The Mansion', and spending time there with his family.

His wife, the former Helen Yonosik, whom he married Sept. 7, 1940, passed away Feb. 10, 2009. The two of them loved being together and spending time with their beloved dog, Mojo.

Surviving are: a daughter, Sandra Missory, Sharon; two sons, Thomas A. Missory and his wife Christine Sager, Vienna, Ohio; and Robert P. Missory and his wife Judy, Sharon; six grandchildren, Thomas Missory, Jr., Debbie Barndt, Brigette Sallade, Brenda Voytik, Tonya Thompson and Jason Missory; 11 great grandchildren, Marissa, Chad and Mariah Voytik; Nathan and Jonathan Jennings; Crysta Barndt; Jordan, Jenna and Julia Missory; and Nicholas and Aiden Thompson. He also leaves two sisters, Lynn Brandt and her husband Robert; and Jeannette Dogan, all Hermitage; and a brother, Jerry Missory and his wife Diane, Mansfield, Ohio.

Besides his parents and wife, Al was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Toriello; and two brothers, Anthony and Larry Missory.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121; or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today (12-23-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday (12-24-11) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
