August 13, 1974 – April 3, 2019
Alan R. Fowlow, 44, of New Castle, previously of Fairfax, VA, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019, as a result of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Mr. Fowlow was born August 13, 1974, in Bethesda, MD, a son of Richard A. and Lesley Rose (Murray) Fowlow. He was a 1993 graduate of Robinson Secondary School, Burke, VA; and later completed his associate degree and training to become a diesel mechanic at UTI, Houston, TX.
A master diesel mechanic, Alan was employed by Richardson Tree and Landscaping, West Middlesex; and previously worked as a diesel bus mechanic at Fairfax Connector, Herndon, VA.
Alan loved participating in the S.C.A (Society for Creative Anachronism), and always looked forward to the annual Pensic War at Coopers Lake, PA. He enjoyed blacksmithing, especially forging knives and tent spikes. Alan also loved attending the annual Katsucon Convention in National Harbor, MD, as well as the Maryland Renaissance Festival.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Lehman-Fowlow, whom he married February 13, 2017; and his mother, Lesley Fowlow, both of New Castle; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Benda Freed-Spondike, of Sharon; his brother by choice, Quinton (Melissa) Hoffman, Alexandria Virginia; and an uncle, Robert Fowlow, Forest Hills, N.Y.
Alan also leaves behind the family and friends from Katsu, Pennsic, and Fair. He was very thankful for the kindness, friendship, and memories he was able to make with all of them throughout the years.
Alan was preceded in death by his father.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday (4-13-19) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle, PA.
