IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Agnes M.
Mcintyre
May 14, 1932 – December 5, 2024
Agnes M. McIntyre, 92, formerly a longtime resident of the Shenango Valley and St. Charles, IL, passed away peacefully with family at her side early Thursday afternoon, December 5, 2024, at her residence in Naples, FL.
Mrs. McIntyre was born May 14, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late John and Mildred (Vete) Milan. She was a 1950 graduate of Mercer High School and a 1954 alumna of Grove City College where she earned a bachelor's degree in business.
While at Grove City, she met the love of her life, William McIntyre, and after two years of dating, the two were married at the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon on July 15, 1954. After living in California for just over a year during Bill's service in the U.S. Marines, the couple moved back to the Shenango Valley.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and raising three children, Aggie worked as the accountant for their family's restaurant, Milan's. She was also the part-owner of Holly Berry Needlepoint Studio, managing purchasing and inventory. After the closing of the local steel mill, she and her husband moved to St. Charles, IL, just outside of Chicago, where they spent several years. During retirement, Aggie split her time between Naples, FL, and her condo in Hermitage.
Aggie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon.
An avid golfer, she was a member of Naples Heritage Golf and C.C., Avalon Golf and C.C. - formerly Sharon C.C., Royal Fox Golf Club in St. Charles, IL, and Club Walden in Aurora, OH, and was a supporter of the First Tee Program. Aggie also served on the former Julia F. Buhl Club Board of Regents in Sharon, played in several bridge clubs, and enjoyed playing Mahjongg.
Aggie was a true matriarch who passionately supported her children and grandchildren in their many endeavors.
The family would like to thank Aggie's caregivers, Abby and Cheri, for their exceptional care and kindness.
She is survived by two children, William McIntyre (Rebecca), Hermitage, PA, and Linda Black (Richard), Naples, FL; five grandchildren, William McIntyre, Jr., Zachary Firestone (Terissa), Madelyn Black, Alexandra McIntyre Harris (Daniel), and Charles Black; and a sister-in-law, Jean Robertson.
In addition to her parents, Aggie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on January 10, 1998, a daughter, Marcia Firestone; a grandson, Richard J. Black, Jr.; a brother, John Milan, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Lee Robertson.
The family suggests memorial donations be directed to Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148; or First Presbyterian Church, 600 E. State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024, in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon.
A funeral service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m., in the sanctuary of the church, with Rev. Dr. Glenn Hink, officiating.
