Obituary

Agnes Cowan, John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage; formerly of Logan Ave. and Riverview Manor, both Sharon, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Saturday (12-4-10) in Humility of Mary Health Partners, Boardman, Ohio. She was 89.

Mrs. Cowan was born June 21, 1921 in Farrell a daughter of the late James and Anna Yazvac Golub.

A lifelong area resident she was a 1939 graduate of Farrell High School.

Agnes was a homemaker and a longtime active member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon.

Her husband, William 'Pete' E. Cowan, whom she married June 24, 1944 in the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Sharon, passed away June 17, 2004.

Surviving are: two sons, William E. 'Bill' Cowan, Jr. and his wife Carolyn, Sharon; and Gordon J. Cowan, Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Bill Cowan, Pittsburgh; and Jenna Cowan, Winter Haven, FL; and a sister, Ruth Golub, Farrell.

Besides her parents and husband, Agnes was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Wasko; and two brothers, Michael Golub and V. James Golub.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, PA 16148; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Calling hours will be from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday (12-8-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday (12-9-10) in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, with the Rev. Henry Andrae, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
