Addolorata "Dolores" Rosaria DeVito DelliBovi of Sharon went to be with her
heavenly Father at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, in the hospital
of Sharon Regional Health System, with her daughter by her side. She was
69.
Mrs. DelliBovi was born March 4, 1948, in Bagnoli Irpino, Italy, a daughter
of Alfonso DelFranco and Filomena Lenzi DeVito. She first came to the
United States at 14 to see if she liked it. Following high school at age
18, she and her husband traveled by boat to Ellis Island and moved to
Farrell to live with her aunt, Florence Lenzi. A year later, Dolores and
her husband settled in Sharon where they raised their family.
A devout Catholic, Dolores was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church,
Farrell, and read scriptures and also watched religious channels on
television daily. Dolores had a great voice and enjoyed singing. She sang
on WPIC Italian hour and filled in for a local church when they did not
have someone to sing. Dolores was also a phenomenal cook and always
prepared a hot meal for her family. Her specialties were Italian sauce and
cavatelli.
Dolores was the town's seamstress model when she was a child. She traveled
back to Italy several times with her husband and children to visit family.
It was very important to her that she kept the Sunday family Italian
tradition of eating and playing skat as well as the Italian Christmas Eve
Festival.
Dolores did not want to work outside of the home and devoted her life to
taking care of her family. When her children and grandchildren were young
she supported them all in the sports they played. Dolores was the rock of
the family and always positive and encouraging to others. She will be
missed by many.
She leaves behind her husband, Dionigi "Danny" DelliBovi, whom she married
on March 31, 1966; a daughter, Lisa Dillon, Hermitage; three sons, William
DelliBovi, Hermitage; Dion DelliBovi and his wife Sheila, Sharon; and
Daniel DelliBovi and Bethany, CO; six grandchildren, Devon, whom she helped
raise, Abriana, Dante', Nathan, Adriana and Massimo; two brothers, Anthony
DeVito and his wife Donna; and Alfonso DeVito, all of Las Vegas, NV; and
her dog, Dino.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; and a son-in-law, Christopher
Dillon, who passed away in January, 2016.
Dolores' family would like to thank her aunt, Maria Donnarummo; and longtime friend, Joanne Nigro; Sharon Regional nurses;as well as Dr. Jay Porter, III; Dr. Sharon Miller;
and Dr. Christopher Enoch and their staff, for the exceptional care they
rendered to Dolores.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Fatima
Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121.
